BLAZING TRAILS
Talking Cedar is a historic enterprise – it is the first tribal-owned distillery in the U.S. and the first distillery allowed in Indian country since 1834. The Chehalis Tribe and HDC joined forces to successfully lobby Congress in 2018 to repeal the Andrew Jackson-era statute that prohibited such operations on Indian lands. on distilleries in Indian country.
The Talking Cedar facility is wholly-owned and run by the Chehalis Tribe and employs 80 people, many of who are Tribal members. The partnership enables the Chehalis Tribe to leverage HDC’s brand, recipes and marketing programs.
NEW VENTURES
"The opening of Talking Cedar is the culmination of years of hard work, and is an exciting day for the Chehalis Tribe. As we move into the operating phase, we’re happy to have a great team to work with, including Heritage Distilling Company. Together we expect a successful business here in Grand Mound and are looking for other Tribes to join in that success.”
