You deserve a treat. You also deserve a beer. How about a beer that is also a treat? Oh yes, we did: Our brand-new Milkshake IPA is on tap exclusively at our pub in Grand Mound!
Ryan Myhre is our quality control lab technician, and he is responsible for the recipe creation of this exceptionally tasty new offering. Inspired by a style of beer he made for another brewery, Ryan suggested the addition of a little bit of lactose, or milk sugar, to the recipe for this Imperial Pale Ale. “It really enhances the residual sweetness,” he explains.
This IPA also features some distinctly flavorful fruits. It was finished with 150 pounds of passionfruit, peach, and pineapple purees in the bright tank after fermentation was complete. At this juncture, the brewers also added vanilla extract. The vanilla combined with the subtle flavors of the fruit bring out that ice creamy mouth experience.
“This beer is a little on the stiff side, but you definitely can’t tell,” Ryan says. Coming in at 8.6% ABV, this vivid, orange-colored beer boasts thick, creamy foam and packs flavors both sweet and tart.
Start to finish, the brewing process took about three weeks. They started making this batch in late August and we were pouring it in the pub by mid-September. Ryan and his fellow brewers made a seven-barrel batch resulting in about 12 kegs. He expects it to last three or four weeks, so do not miss out!
Hustle into our pub off Exit 88 and add a pour of Milkshake IPA to your flight. You can also order a pint or fill a growler to go and share with friends. We cannot really think of a better way to satisfy your sweet tooth and take the edge off a long day.
